Well, what kind of riding do you do? How much you looking to spend?

How old are you? How tall are you? I'd hate to tell you to get a 450 when you are 12 years old or a LT 80 when you are 40.

i do alot of riding in the woods. but their are some open track now and then. it is also pretty ruff and i mean ruff for long stretches. as to price. something reasonably inexpensive. 5000 or below i guess

Age? Height? Weight?
I'd look into a nice 400ex.

yes, the 400ex would be the best for a first, powerful, but not enuf for an experienced rider

Get a 400EX, if you go with a 2005 or newer it will have reverse.

yea i really like the 400 ex. my friend has one. its really nice. but i would have to wait longer on buying it cause it cost a little more than i had in mind. (i guess i can ride my friends 300 for now). but i guess its worth it too wait?

You said 5000 or below. I just bought a new '07 400ex for 4954 out the door.
dude get a 450 ur never going to get bored of it. A used 450 is much less than a new 400 and yea their great quads but 450's are better.

no i would not because I started out on a 450 and im glad i did. 450 has enough power for anyone. You cant really grow out of a 450 I have 2 of em and im selling one because i wanna try a dirtbike but I will never sell both. Their all around great quads.

Because not everyone is a die hard 450 fan.
Any of the 400s would be nice to start out on.

Listen don't get a 400ex. Get a banshee, throw a set of pipes on it and just practice clutching it in the woods. I have a 400ex and there good in the woods but the banshee just rips like no other quad. They can be very quick with some work.
