spark problems

i went to fire up my quad the other day only to discover it wouldnt fire, naturally the first thing i checked was the plug and and noticed the plug wasn't giving a spark, (note brand new plug just put it in) so i ask a buddy of mine and he said it could be one of two problems- ignition coil was bad or cdi was bad, i was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if they knew what it could be..

It can be many things, a process of elimination will help determine which: (I'm assuming here that the starter turns the motor over, but the motor doesn't start due to lack of spark)

Kill switch
Stator
CDI
Coil
Plug (new one could be DOA)
Spark plug wire
Wiring between any of these
