im looking for something to ride after selling my 450r...i miss it but dont have alot of money. i really would like a nice banshee but i came across this bike on the local craigslist and the price caught my eye. most of my riding is open feilds that i lik e to rip 5th pinned through and i think a big bike would be sick...i know the bike is old, but it looks pretty hot and the price is so appealing lol.

let me know what you guys think about this.....i ride an xr100 daily and i have been bmxing for 8 years along with quadding for 6 years...im 6'1 so i should be able to fit it ok but i need some other opinions

thanks

You'll die on a 250 if a Xr100 is the only thing you road. I'd check out 125s. Their real fast and fun.

ive ridden a yz125 with a 134 kit and owned a race ready 450r quad....i know kids who started riding on 600cc sportbikes....i doubt ill "die" on a 250....

i wouldnt mind a 125 but for 1,000 bucks, its tempting....

most of my riding is pinned out straights anyway

the 250 will be fine. i road a crf250r today, a cr250 today and my cr85 today...the cr250 screams and its torquey as hell. the suki ur lookin at looks a little beat but for a grand you cant go wrong. you could probably resell it next year for the same price...

yeah it looks alittle rough but i love to polish and clean things up....its alot easier to clean up a bike than a quad so im sure i could work some magic on it.

Dude an RM 250 is a huge step from an xr 100. But if u have past experience than I'd say get it, or a 125.

I would personally look into a 125. 250's are alot heavier, and in the trails, they beat the crap out of you. 125's are nice and light, and real easy to go fast on.

But, if the price is right for the 250, I would buy it...

how do you figure? A 125 and a 250 are the same size bike only real weight difference is less than 15lbs on most models. 250's are 100X easier to ride in tight trails. The low end power definitly helps out a lot and cuts down on clutching. 250's are a much better woods bike in trails, take hence why you don't really see 125's in the woods. If you can't get them up on the revs, there's not point in riding it.

How would I know this? I've owned and ridden many 125's and 250's.

If you feel up to it, I'd go for the 250, but I would take it easy for a while. An rm 250 is nothing like a quad or an xr100.

get the 250...but first ask questions about when he changed the top end on it how many times at what time intervals stuff like that so u know if it needs a fresh top end, check the fork seals make sure they are not leaking so pretty much push down on the front end and see if the fork has fluid on it, and if the bike dont start in like 3 kicks dont bother with it

and to the ones that say a 250 isnt fast.....they are and if ur not careful u will end up on ur back, but if u have knowledge at riding u should be ok

yah, a 250 can put you on your *** in the blink of an eye. Yea a rocket is fast, but getting cross rutted on a 250 5th wide would be a pretty crappy day.
