I just bought an 04 450r, it was just rebuilt with the updated crank bearing kit, it has a hot cam stage 2, wiseco 11.5:1 piston and full leo vince exhaust. when im riding my quad it has no low end power. it really starts to pull after half throttle, it almost feels stock untill half throttle. im just confused cuz it should have more low end with that cam shouldn't it? what can i do to get more low end power? it starts and runs good, and i think the jetting is correct. thanks

that cam is made for mid to top end power. Try to find a 03 or 02 CRF cam. I just put a 03 in my quad, and now i wanna go and find a 02....lol.

As mentioned you want a CRF or stage I HotCam for more lowend power.

What about changing out your sprocket? Front or back? i went to a 42 in the back on mine, and it made a good dif!

i checked out hotcamsinc.com and the stage 2 cam is mid to top, i was told it was low to mid??? and i checked my quad and it does have 15 T front sprocket, ill change that back to 14 and go from there.

The gearing is what is killing you...if you are looking for lowend, get a 13T front sprocket. The 15T is damn near useless unless you are running some crazy long stretches.

In addition to that, as you have noted, the Stage 2 is a mid-top cam. If you are looking for bottom end, I would go with one of the CRF cams.

just curious..... could the cam be degree'd a bit to achieve some low end grunt outta it?

i like it--- i was just wanting to test a 03 cam after looking at chad's power/torque sheet on a comparison between the 02 and 03 to see which i like better----- it has about 20-30 hrs on it-- but i think im just gonna have my shop find me a deal on a 03 cam to try when my motor is apart this week--
