cable question.

My 400ex's throttle is stiff, and its been kind of stiff for a while since I got it, and I'm going to Breezewood for Labor Day weekend, and I want to make sure everything is in working order, maybe I'm just over reacting but it feels lie my throttle is a little stiffer, does this mean its worn out or just not lubed well? Are they hard to replace and how can i check the points of the cable where they normally wear out? it has been dusty the last few weeks so the lubrication could be the problem.

a new cable is like 27 dollars just take some chain wax or wd-40 and squirt down the cable from the throttle housing down towards the carb.
