hes asking 1500 for the yz and 1600 for the cr. im going to try and talk him to around 1300 and 1400...respectfully. im gonna try 1300 for the cr hopefully.

they were both really nice

these bikes are 10 minutes (6 miles) from my house and i didnt even know lol

Sprokets, chain, trany oil. Wheel bearings. Find out wut he is mixin the gas to, make sure anything with a spline isent striped, ie shifter and kick starter. Id go with the cr, i had one and it went. Beat 400exs in tourqe and top end, and accel.

What he said, Always ride the bike or have the bike ridden infront of you. Look for stripped bolts as well. I'd take a Yz over a Cr anyday but in this case go with the Cr. Looks much cleaner.

I would go for a 125.. 85's have a rough powerband that can be dangerous if your not careful. They hit power on and off without a notice.

The cr does look cleaner but its up to you. Ive got a 2000 yz 125 that i need to sell to make payments on my new bike ah (broke arm too from new bike ) If you would be interested let me kno, I can get pics in just a few days. Im putting a whole new top end (piston, ring, gaskets etc.) in before I sell her since I was going to keep it but now it has to go :( . It has a new rear tire, pro taper bars, both fork seals as well that have 2 rides on it. It needs to go, if you want it, its yours for 1400 cash. I live in greensburg pennsylvania 15601 and could possibly deliver to you for a small price, let me know! You can PM on here or email cjmcguire90@hotmail.com.

Sorry if typing is bad, i suck at typign with just my left hand lol!

well yea the Cr is obviously nicer, most of the stuff on it (graphics, pipe, plastics, shifter, tires, sprockets, chain) are only a year old or less...but it is $100 more than the yz, and the yz is more set up for the woods. I am leaning towards the CR because my buddy works on Hondas so he could fix anything for me, and because its nicer...

Yeah it would be nice for him to be able to help you out but imo, working on a 2 stroke is pretty easy. Especially compared to a 4 stroke. Ill try to get pics to you asap, this is the only one i have that was about 2 months ago b4 new bars/rear tire!

What he said, also 85's are turds.

the cr is the better of those two for sure

it depends on how big you are and your skill level as to how quick you will "out grow it"

as for them being turds ???
my son consistantly out runs 125's with his old cr80
(he is 13 years old and right at 80 pounds)

mitch is right, my son smokes mild built 400ex's also.

the cr is prob. a $1500 bike and the yz closer to $1200
the honda will hold its resale value better also so if you
do outgrow it you can get more out of it towards your next
bike

just my opinion

here is the 1999 cr80 I gave $1000 for last year

Yeah there pretty fast if you tune it right. I think they meant that they are turds compared to like a 125 or 250 thumper LOL. Nice choice dude.

did you get burned by an 85 or something ? you really act like they put a thorn in your side

and a cr85 vs a 4 stroke 125 isnt even a race

I will bet money that if your ltz450 is only cb/no baffy
that my son can hang with you in a 200' drag

the little 80 2 strokes have been screamers all the way back to the 1980's
now if your a big guy (Im 6' 220) they are not going to make up for the extra weight but to call them turds is pretty far off

yea i didnt want to get involved in the arguement but i have to say when this thing takes off it ****ing goes...

Yeah i raced my neighbors race ready KX85 and it didnt hang on for ****, theres no way your sons 80 would either, lets not argue, i just dont think 85's are fun ...

Edit: BTW i am 6'2" and 140lbs = no fun for me ;)

450 wise, an 85 really won't touch them. 400ex, yah, an 85 will hang with them.

450rjam... You gotta think though, your son is on a 24ish hp bike that weighs a little over 100lbs and he's 80lbs. Most 125 riders are upwards of 140lbs on a 32ish hp 200lbs. bike. The power to weight ratio is defintitly in your sons favor. My kx 80 used to keep up with 400ex's all day long, but wouldn't come close to a 450. My 125 can't really hang with 450's either. Their torque just kills everything out of the hole. 85's are wicked little bikes. I liked mine.

Hope you like your cr man. Some guy posted that on PT a few weeks ago and man it looked clean as hell.

My 1996 cr80 was my most favorite bike so far... I loved that bike and should have kept it to mess around on... It flew, and I never had problems keeping up with 125's or most bigger bikes... Put it this way, when you're in the trails or desert you can really only go so fast based on skill, and if you bike can hang with your skill you will be able to beat people on bigger bikes pretty easily. You might be screaming your bike in 5th gear to keep up with a bigger bike in 3rd, but you're still hanging with them and have another gear to still grab. :)

80's/85's are way fun.

ummm in the desert I'd have to disagree with you. I'd think my rm would take an 85 WFO. For tight trails though, I feel the same pain that the 85's do... no low end.

the old cr80's have 6 gears and I race him with my 450r and he is only 5 or so lengths behind me (on dirt)

I consistantly smoke ltr's by 3+ lengths so he would be right in your back pocket.

my point is that the 80/85's are not turds and the power to weight ratio is killer.

lets ride

and how are these no fun but your little pitbike is?

it would "feel" like it's ripping him around due to the size of it. The front end would never be on the ground. I still can't really see an 80/85 being right behind an ltr. No way. From experience on both an ltr would shred an 85. Good bikes. Fast, but not that fast.

Yes i know he was talking about his 450r, thats why i was laughing. And for your 85 "ripping" me around ... theres no way, i can whip around my friends rm125 and his rmz250 around in the woods with ease  Its all the rider bro. And why did you bring the pitbike into this ? It has nothing to do with anything, i race mini 4-stroke also, thats why i have it.
