hi all

i have z-400 2003 and i want to change soon my front setup,

im not doing any competition mx but i would like to hit bigger jumps, so that why i want to change my z-400 stock shocks

the thing is

i find too pricy to get 500+$ elka, so im thinking of buying ltr-450 shock

would it be a good upgrade for big jumps?

does ltr 450 shocks fit stock a-arms?

if i want to change my a-arm at the same time, does ltr 450 shock fit +2, +3 a-arms???

what the modification needed to make them fit the Z

thx everyone

ltr shocks are WAY too stiff for a z, but they will fit. your better off with 06-07 honda 450r shocks. and no, ltr a arms wont fit

way better of a ride and mount up better too with little or no mods. and they should fit aftermarket a arms. i used these on my 400ex but they will fit the z too, and they felt tons better over stock. i actually have them for sale if your interested. I would take 175 shipped as my bottom dollar.

It would seem to me that those stating the shocks would be too stiff are right on the money. The LTR is much wider than the Z and the leverage on the shock would be less on the LTR. So, the shock would be very stiff. On +2 a-arms (assuming they would fit) I would expect them to feel much better. I have no experience with putting LTR shocks on a Z, but the leverage would certainly be different. You could probably have them revalved/resprung, but after the cost of the shocks and the cost of having them set up correctly, you could probably just pick up some good used aftermarket shocks that are meant for a Z. Just my thoughts. Good luck.

just buy 05+ Z shocks then and the 450r has the most trail friendly shocks out of the big four 450's ( idk about the kfx so not sure) the yfz shocks are probably the least friendly but there much better at taking hits in stock form on a track so it evens out with the ltr in the middle

i pretty much agree with svahle. you can get ltr shocks for the z, but having less leverage might make them pretyy stiff, but they would still probably be better than the stock 03 z shocks you have. also, for example, if you baught those ltr shocks from fastyz85 for $175 shipped, you can send them to iShock and have them revalved for $200 and right there will be awesome shocks for $375.
