250rs are like that, u gotta hold the throttle in a little and it wont kick back as hard and fire right up., just some advice don't ever miss and slip while kicking it over or you'll have an ankle in pieces lol.

yea ive missed a few times killed my heel, but is it reall sopposed to be that hard to kick, i mean it shoots my foot right back up, as long as its not a bad thing, im happy

its not a bad thing I'm almost 100% positive it will kick over in the first 3 kick , just hold the throttle in a little while your kicking it over.. My bros 250r was brand new rebuilt basically 05' R can kick it over with no problems, the kickback is normal.

just go out and try to start it with the throttle in a little bit, odds are it wont start first kick since its cold, but tell me if it kicks back less when u do that.

told ya it'd work, just gotta use the choke if u have on to warm it up, you'll get used to it after a while it may have to do with the fact that your banshee has 2 smaller pistons and yours has one big one I'm not sure.

don't banshees only have like 160 lns of compression in each cyliner. (not fact, just thought i read it somewhere) With the shaved head you ahould be nearing the 200+ mark. And like everyone has said, until you get to know it, make sure you wear boots or you will hate life.

the 250r engine requires atleast 300 rpm's to fire off. a liltrick i use is to roll the piston over until i find that magic lil spot and then i get the kiker back to top position and then i drop down on it with weight on that foot/hip. ever watched anyone kik start an old harley? works well :D

I do the same thing, just a little past TDC. Works great.

Just past TDC and give it hell. I just pull my choke out and about 3 kicks dead cold. No throttle until it is a little warm.

Yeh, you got to LEARN how to start an R.

Took me a few weeks, and I readjusted the idle so that helped to cuz it was way to low.

Yeh thats why we say Kickbacks a B!t(h.

Lets see here, wut I've had was.

Kickback
Foot slides off the kicker and NAILS your shin-------Ow.
Kickback sending my knees straight into the bars--Ow.

For the kickbacks into the bars are you guys standing straight up and down? If you lean back a tad, you knee will usually come back towards your chest instead of straight up into the bars. For kickbacks to the shin well, get better boots.:D

Yeh, for a quick start up in my garage I don't wear boots but I've learned to wear them no matter wut when your kickin it. It usually kicks back if I give it throttle, but with no throttle it will kick fine, but give it one squirt then the next kick it kicks back.

I primer kick mine about 3-5 times with the choke on. I roll the kicker over until I'm near TDC at the start of the kick. Then give it a good kick while slightly cracking the throttle when I'm halfway through the kick stroke. I've never had any kickback problems.

yeah, I got the fd up leg, and I guess you do have to question my luck. I was not, I repeat was not wearing flip flops when I broke the leg though.

Same here. I choke mine and blip the throttle when I kick it and it starts right up. Never had kickback or starting troubles, although I had a fouled plug once and kicked my leg off trying to start the stupid thing.
