i do believe it will work. now this is based on my readings. so, dont quote me on this. i know the axle to bearing are are the same but unsure about the spacing at the brake disk hub/jamb area.

edit: after looking at the manual for the 400ex. the differences i saw was how the brake caliper mounts to the swinger and the distance that the brake disk is from the axle carrier. meaning the brake disk is farther to the right and makes up for it with spacers built onto the caliper bracket as opposed to the R setup which is closer to the center of the swinger.

you'll deffinately need to use the R rear wheel hubs. the axle splines are different.

yessir. now if ya were to change the carriers out then you'd most likely need to use all of the corresponding parts from the 250r

250r and 400ex carriers are the same. You need the 250r hubs and 250r axle lock nut. If you want to use a 250r brakes, everything from a 250r goes on the 400ex and use can use an anti-fade brake hub.

so will my RAD axle nut for the 400ex fit an axcaliber axle?

it might, the issue is the spacing between the brake hub and circlip. There is a better chance you need a 350x/250r axle lock nut.
