Finished 440EX with (NOS) New to the forum

Nice to see other EX lovers. I hope I can get some of these pictures uploaded as I am trying to get used to this site. But I have spent many hours and $ on this bike. There is no 450 out there who can beat me on the sand. Hope you enjoy.

What brand nitrous kit are you using? Does anything stand out as being good/bad about that particular kit? Do you use a regulator? What size bottle is that? How much NO2 runtime do you get out of each fill? :cool:

The nitrous system is BOSS NOSS here local in Utah. It is a complete regulated system which allows me to old the button as long as needed:D
Right now it has been dinoed at 42 hp with out NOS and I have a 15 and 20 shot of HP. FAST.. What a ride.

It has a 2.5 pound bottle which gives me about 3 min of button pushing time. I searched and searched regarding NOS systems and these guys are the best. You have a silanoid that regulates the perfect amount of nitrous and fuel all the time.

Hey man, nice EX! I'm curious, do you like the display you have installed? I'm looking to get one for my EX for I'd like to know my speed, RPM etc... Does that one allow you to have a bar graph type tach? How much was it?

For the Nitrous Kit. Jon is the owner and Chet worked on my bike. Just say that Paul Sent you and tell him about the 440 ex AKA (black Widow) The compression is 12:1, it has been ported and polished, 42mm 450r carb with a 190 jet in it. K&N with no lid, 14 tooth sproket, Powerbomb header and core 4 pipe. And a few other secrets my mechanic and I came up with:) I will be getting some video this week end at the dunes which I wll post and show you.

The swing arm is a round tube with +2 inches extra added to it. Custom quad works did my work. Here are some pictures of it being installed. As I do all my work.

The Singarm was $295 and the Black axel carrier was $120

right now the computer fits into the bar clamp. It is a one piece unit built for the bars and computer. Check out this link.

man if you turbo that it will be faster than anything your up against. Its already gotta be like a jet but with a turbo I bet you can get over 80HP awesome looking quad too I would vote that quad of the month and quad of the year

"What is it like hitting the Nitrous button?" Amazing. In the pictures I just posted of Sand Mtn in the back ground a 400ex with pipe can make it in 2nd gear half wat then you must shift down to 1st because it is so steep. Now I hit the bottom of the hill in 3rd start climbing then hit the button a 1/4 of the way up the hill, Which makes you up shift clear to 5th gear, however I just stay in 4th and rap it out. 3/4 of the 450's can pull the hill in a strong 3rd. So that should tell you that for the time I have NOS in the bottle I am the King.

It's not a huge :eek: hit but it just pulls you right through your gears no matter what the hill or surface your on.

400ex was the 1st atv to be turboed. Just a 400ex ith a turbo makes around 50HP. so if you had a big bore + a turbo & NOS for sure it will be the fastest 4 stroke out there. I have looked into kits, they make like 14lbs of boost but are about 2k for the whole kit. Turbos for them are simpley bolt on. Research it on google and see what you find, there are a few companies. Also go to youtube and type in turbo DS650. it makes modifyed banshees run scared. In Huevos 9 they did a yfz450 with a turbo and it climbed this huge dune like nothing. So turbos are now starting to show up in te atv industry. Check em out.

As for sprokets I have a 14 tooth front and 38 in rear. For Utah and the sand it is the best ratio for me.

Turbo makes the400ex have 52HP on stock bore. The best site is garrett turbos. thtas who makes the good 1 but thats 4k for everything. I have seen another place that sold a kit for $2200 or something. Check out garrett turbos though just go to products and you will see 400ex

I hope this video link works? While out at the dunes last weekend there is a desert racing track on the outside of the dunes. I smoked the other riders and was 1st all the way. I consistantly averaged 3 and 4th gear and with the new suspension, a-arms, shocks I was able to fly through the biggest of whoops.

Thanks Skully. I have put so much blood sweat and tears in her I dont know If I should sell her and start on a 450R project? But she is a head turner.

Check out this quick clip of a desert race. It was about 20 local riders but yours truly took 1st. The video sucks but you can see the A-arms just soaking up the bumps. Passed the video camera in 4th gear.

The quad looks great! I'd vote for it. The only advice I have for you is to swap your rims on the front because those Kenda Klaw fronts are rotating backwards. They have rotation arrows on them. If you swap the rims with the tires still installed, they will be spot on.

to be honest i came close to buying a turbo kit, there was a guy that was selling 2 kits on ebay that he wanted gone, 1 full and the other kit was 95% there. i want a turbo for my 440 also, it wouild be a killer machine, im around 40hp myself. if my bike doesnt sell by the winter, my plowing money will go towards a 400$ port job and possibly a turbo, id like to be one of the first on here to turbo an ex expecially the dominating 440 :)

None yet. Boss Noss has done a great job with their Nitrous system. But I always make sure to let it sit for a bit after a few times up the hill. You have to love the air cooled system.;)

if ur not on a tight budget i'd go with the garrett turbo kit.
the build top of the line trubos 4 cars and i'm sure the one 4 the 400 is just as good
