I have a 2002 Sportsman 700 that has no fire. You can crank on it 30 times & maybe get 1 spark.
Assuming it is the stator - but hate to spend almost $500 for Polaris' stator & this not be the porblem....
Anyone else have this poblem - or have any suggestions....

How are you checking the 'spark'? Got it tore down to where you can get to the spark plug? If you have it tore down that far, then it should be easy to check everything else.
Make sure the kill switch is off, you would be suprised that sometimes the easiest thing is it.
More info please.
it also might be the ignition coil or the cdi unit

Best thing you could do is get a manual. And it will tell you how to ring the wires out that go to stator and coil, cdi
Then get you a omm meter. We'll save you some bucks. and look at aftermarket stator.
