I was thinking about getting this oil cooler and just wandering if anyone else has got this? It is from 4-Stroke tech. Not a bad price either, $115!

Did you notice any power gain with it running cooler?

I hear that you need to tear down the motor and drill and tap the head cover and the case, is this true?

I put one on my quad and it seems keep it cooler on hot summer days. Yes you do have to drill and tap threads in the case and the head, but it's not as hard as it looks. the instructions that you get with the kit are pretty weak, just take your time and use the force!!!!!!!!!!! I like mine it was worth $100 bucks.

The screen shield comes with the kit. I have it and I love it. You have to be comftorable with a tap and dye set. Took about 1 hour for me to install. It was defintely worth the money.

Here is a pic of my side case with the lines. I used stainless steel lines instead of the rubber ones that came with it. They are stronger and look a lot more trick.

How much of the motor do you have to tear down to install the lines? I would imagine quite a bit so you don't get metal shavings in the motor.

I had search high and low for fittings that would screw into the holes and never did find anything. I just finally figured that they would need to be taped to get a fitting to work, looks like I was right.

you could use an oil cooler from one of the old GSX-R's 86-91 , surely find one cheaper than the kit. then just go to NAPA or someother automotive store and buy your oil lines.

you can get a trans oil cooler kit for a car that is a little bit bigger than that for like $45-50 from A&A Auto. and it comes with hoses and hose clamps. you can install it how they do, or simply replace the stock oil cooler.. wont be as effective as hooking it to the head of the motor, but it will still def make your engine run cooler, because you can mount it up farther, so there would be more air hitting it, and a bigger area for the oil to run through to cool down.
