i just bought this quad and want to change the oil.whats the reccomended oil for this ride?my buddy says i should go synthetic but i want to get the right weight first.

as far as weight goes, id go with 10w-40. u dont really want to go any thinner than that on a quad.

synthetic is great and everything, but as long as u change ur oil on a regular basis there is nothing wrong at all with using just regular oil. i use amsoil 10w-40 and it works great.

The Yamaha manual for mine recommends 20W-40 from 30 degrees F up, and 10W-30 down to 10 degrees F.

I use 15W-40 Pennzoil Longlife and it's never run better. It seems to shift a lot easier with this stuff in it.

Have to agree with gncc025, if you ride your new machine a lot or hard, be sure to change the oil frequently. And don't forget the oil filter gallery on the left side of the case.

cool thanks.i put synthetic 10-30 in there last week.but ill change it up to 20-40 until the frost comes.i have been riding it pretty hard since i bought it.

on my warrior i used 20-40 full synthetic. i spent the xtra for the synthetic due to being air cooled. it wont break down and lose viscosity, but will still get dirty
