when riding in the sand how do you tell if its going to drop out from you???
You just have to pay really close attention! Just slow down at the tops of dunes when you don't know whats on the other side and you will be fine.
Just look over the edge:p
Around here most of the drop offs are on the south edge but there are exceptions.

JUST GO FOR A SLOW RIDE FIRST. JUST TO LEARN THE AREA. THEN YOU CAN HAMMER DOWN. ALSO TALK TO PEOPLE IN STAGING AREA OR STOP OFF AND TALK TO THE LOCAL QUAD SHOPS.

Get behind a good leader and learn what kind of lines they choose.

Be careful riding during the middle of the day when there are no shadows and everything looks flat for you will miss the drop offs.

when you get to the top of hills you cant see over, ride up to em then turn sideways and look... usually never ride straight up any sand hill unless you can see the other side.

Silver Lake isnt bad I live about 10 miles from it and I go a lot. Just take it easy everytime you go up there and know what its like for that day. Its never really the same day by day. Theres always something different everytime I go up. Once you get use to it then go all out and have a good time.

you definately need to get used to the place, much more fun once your used to it and then you get a better idea of what the other side is gunna look like.
