What's the best way to cut the fenders?

The kids have talked me into doing it but I want to see which way you guys have done it.

Thanks,
Darrell

I just used a jig saw and then sanded the edge, if you take your time you can make a strieght cut. a small hand grinder works to. leave some of the finder on top it seems to look better to me.http://i207.photobucket.com/albums/bb133/kenjolly/DSC00200.jpg

Easiest way to cut them is to use masking tape, the narrower the better and mark where you want to cut. This way you can try to get them looking the same on both sides and I use an air powered cut-off wheel tool. Then remove tape after cutting and sand edge smooth. Good luck!

after sanding wave a torch over the edges and they will gloss up like factory.

Thanks for the replies. I hope mine turns out as good as yours.

Since we have 7 weeks until our next race I need to do something. It doesn't seem right if I'm not tinkering.
I guess I have been sucked into the racing scene.

Did any of you trim the rear fenders also?

the ATVA nationals rules state rear fenders must cover portion of rear tires , so we cannot cut the rears.

Is that Armor All on the tires?

Man, that's some dedication or a form of OCD. Ha Ha

Here they are. Not as exciting as the front.
Right after I cut them Zachary came out to see and immediately he got really excited. I was gonna give him a high five but he wanted to hug me. It has already paid off. Also sine I cut them he has went in the garage at least 3 times by himself just to sit on his. ha ha ha, too cute.

PS, mud is fun until you have to clean them. I am buying stock in Simple Green

Steve,

Yes they are. You did a good job making them. As soon as the kids can decide on a front bumper we will get the fronts (if you still make them)

Good hearing from you.

nice job on the fenders they look great!!!!!

PS we do get them dirty now and then. OK i might have a small problem with cleaning and yes thats armor all. if you use sillicone on the plastic and frame it shines better than new.
