I need some help guys..

I have an 05 450R, and the fan will not run. I have shorted the thermo sensor to ground, and still no fan. The fan is good, and the temp light is good. I have switched out the CDI, with a new one that I bought off of e-bay, and still nothing. The key switch is good.

Any suggestions?

There are 4 wires coming from the ignition switch. Red, green, black and black with a white stripe. strip back the red and black ones and splice them together. That should make the fan work.

did that work? what about the sensor itself? what is your coolant like?

I had the same problem. I would start the bike up and the temp light would not come on and would let it idle for 10-15 minutes and the fan would not come on. I tried grounding the temp sensor and the fan still would not work. It ended up being a bad kill switch. I had removed the key switch on all my 04-05 450rs and tied the kill switch in there. I also tried a different cdi and harness before I found out it was the kill switch.

I know if you remove the key switch the temp light will not work, I don't know about the fan.

If you connect the red and black wires the temp light and fan will work, the green and black with white strip are for the kill switch. I have done this on 3 different 04 and 05 450rs and all work fine (except the one with the bad kill switch).
