Hey i was wondering if it would be okay if i had my valve stems flipped to the other side of the rims so i could turn around my wheels to get a wider stance. I was wondering if this would screw anything up or if it would be okay.

Thanks, Matt

ive heard you are more vulnerable to bending tierods and to some bump-steer. but besides that it will work fine and i know alota people who do it.

i have it, i havent had a problem yet with bending tie rods or bup steer, but then again i do have a steering dampener

Bump steer has to do with the geometry of your front suspension and nothing to do with a steering damper. In a nut shell, as the suspension travels throughout it's range your toe-in, camber and caster with change throughout the travel. For the most part, it's not a good thing, it makes for an unpredictable set up. You can benefit from the caster changing but you don't want the toe to change on it as it travels up and down.

Your rims shouldn't play a part in it no matter how wide or narrow you go with them, your A-Arm geometry will play the major part in it. ;)

i did it mine cause i don't have $1000 bucks to throw at parts .i just drilled a hole in the other side put the valve stem in backwards and put another one in on the out side of the rim. i did bend a tie rod the last race in practice ,i bent it back and raced 2 motos finished 3rd.sh*t happens.

Yep, mine are flipped.

i'm not saying it's the best thing to do, but If what you mostly do is ride around trails, and alittle racing, This helps. I considered buying new arms, but I decided against it till I start getting into racing more.

thanks for the replys i think i might do it as soon as my lsr axle comes in (2 weeks). But for know would it look bad if the front was widend and the back was stock (except for tires).

I woulnd't do it. My friend did it for about a week on his 400ex and in that week he bent his tie rod.

i have raced my 300ex like that for 2 or 3 years and have never bent any thing and my buddy eldoexrider01 slid of in a ditch and bent his tie rod on his new 400 and his were not switched so my point is it can happen either way but if it does tie rods are only $10 bucks

i did it but it throws your camber off and makes the front end wobble a little it makes it look like this /---\ (not this bad though)

oh yeah i forgot make sure that you put the valve caps on the inside. i've heard of guys getting dirt or small rocks in the valve stem and make the tire flat.

if the tires look like that, you can adjust your tie-rods in or out to fix your problem... :)

You can buy stonger tie rods on ebay and probably make a sleeve to go over the stock ones , it doesn't look that hard.

How much wider would you guys say it makes your quad? 1" 2"?If it isn't much more than an inch, how would it hold up to woods racing?

With mine and my brothers quads face to face with mine flipped and his not from outside of the tire to outside of the tire mine was approx. 4-5 in wider.

one of my friends has his flipped and he bends tie rods a lot. So he always carries 2 extra tie rods wherever we go. If you do not jump a lot, or jump big, go for it, it makes you quad wider and doesn't cost anything. BUT if you race, i wouldn't do it unless you want to keep changing tie rods.

It will give you exactly 3 in. on each side. I just shaved the calipers down some that way I can just switch between offset and regular. I have not got to test it a lot but it feels about the same on steering. Looks better to me in my opinion.

yeah i have ridden with flipped rims for about 2 months and haven't had a problem. what i did was take some shorty valve stems and put them in place of the others and they don't bump the front brakes.

you big spender:D how much did you pay? i bought 4 of them for $4.00 bucks here in town

does flipping front rims do the same damage as buying the offset rims like 2 - 3

Bronson, $12.95 for a set of 4 and $15 extra to have them air expressed over night,,HEHE,,,LOL,,,later

Just get wheel spacer's, but either way you look at it, your caliper's stick it and they can get hit by rocks or etc. There sticking right out waiting to get hit by sumthing unelss you get covers but that doesn't always stop rocks from breaking ur caliper. Also your rotor's can be hit or bent or dinged..

I met a guy out in the pits this weekend with a raptor. He had his front rims flipped and he bent a tie rod that day also.
