Fullbore sent me a bracket;) Not the prettiest thing.. but it worked. I ended up eventually making my own, just because I added a light switch....

ill post a picture of mine in the morning... i have mine hidden out of sight but is fairly easy to get to. the neutral light i fab'd a small aluminum peice to the bars that keeps it up front and out of the way. im also picky and didnt want to drill into my new plastics or have it cluttering up the top of the bike or near the handlebars.

What I did was similar to what was posted above...

works great and hardly cost anything. I bought the sheet of aluminum at a hardware store and with a little cutting/drilling I ended up with this...

I'd be happy to make one but I'm not 100% sure the bar mounts are the same distance apart as on my 300. If you measure the distance between the 2 lower bolts I'm sure I can make something up.

Would you need the hole for the breather tube also?

The ignition holder is made out of very thin sheet aluminum so it seems a little flimsy but mine has held up very well so far.

Also if you could post up a pic of your bars from the seated position it would help so I know how to configure the key and light so it doesn't interfere with anything.

thats a nice one. i had also thought about doing one like that and similar to the one that awsomeaussies has but i figured it'd make it look cluttered. one question though... whats the red light for???

Thanks. I can actually make it a tad more compact than the one I posted but not much. The red light is for reverse...it's on a 300ex.

Looks like its pretty much exactly the same as on mine. So you just need 3 holes...one for the ignition and one for the neutral light and one for the breather right?
I'm not real sure how to configure everything... I can offset the key to one side with the light beside it and the breather tube above in the center I guess.

Here is what I had in mind for the 400...

As long as I still have some aluminum left over it shouldn't take long at all. If I have to I'll pick up another sheet tomorrow(Friday). I'll see if I can fab up something tonight and I'll post the finished product so you can see it before you buy. Shouldn't be more than a day or 2.

2005 and up 400ex's have reverse too, thats what the red light is, not just on the 300ex's.

yea.... stumped me for a sec... didnt realize the 300's have reverse. i know the new 400's have reverse..... lazy option for those who are too lazy to push.. :D

yeah im perfectly fine with pushing mine back but then again i wldnt mind having reverse.

Hondamaster5505
08-16-2007, 08:52 PM
yeah, i just happened to get an 05 (i didnt get it for the reverse) But it is a nice feature. This thing is like a cadilac to me, im used to the blaster (my previous bike) which was kick+no reverse. I dont mind that though.

400exwheelieboy
08-16-2007, 08:55 PM
lol yeah moving from a blaster to a 400ex is a huge jump just like mine. i had a polaris trail boss 325 and now i got my 400 lol and a ltr.

Well, I got it finished tonight. It didn't turn out too bad considering it is only the second one I've made...unless you count the first one that I screwed up. lol:o

The extra "ring" in the pic is to help space the ignition. It normally goes through a thicker material so I had to basically make a washer to help take up the slop. Let me know what you think.

It looks a little better in person...I never realized how hard it is to take a picture of a shiny object.:eek2:

300exOH
08-17-2007, 12:02 AM
BTW- The holes for the neutral light and breather are more round than they look in the pic. The metal is slightly warped at the edge and the camera just enhanced it. I also made the holes for the bolts slightly oval so it can be positioned the way you want.

I used a rubber grommet for the breather on mine to keep it from wearing through. I don't have any more of them or I would include it with the holder.

Oh and just for the record...reverse is highly overrated IMO. I hardly ever use it. It's much easier to just crack open the throttle and spin it around. Even with the reverse mod and a foot shifter it still takes longer to use reverse.

Thanks for the compliment. It's very easy to make. I made mine in about a 1-1.5 hours with just a set of tin snips, a drill and some elbow grease. If I can find some slightly thicker aluminum sheets I may even start making them and selling on ebay.
