I've seen these motors pop up on ebay once in a while and thought it would be really different to put in a 250R chassis. Since it's a twin, there should be no vibration issue. AND it would still be a 250R :D

wow, never seen a motor like that, but if you could fab that in it would be killer, 250r twin:eek2:

I've thought about this as well.

It would be really hard to rig that motor into a quad without knowing how everything goes.

These bikes were supposed to be super expensive - $25 - 50K

But I saw one in the trader a while back for $4500. There is also a NSR500. I think in 2004 or possibly 2006 they came out with an updated, last run of them before axing them completely.

I'm not sure how this would translate for a quad, but the NSR 250R is a 288lb bike with a top speed listed as 130mph so add the extra weight and it might even out with a big bore motor.

the nsr 500 was a v4, and was a race bike only. never made a street bike variant. the 250 was a vtwin like shown. theres a guy in another forum with one in a 250R drag chassis. they actually make big bore kits for them and stuff... supposedly hes doing over 100hp with 2 modded cr125 jugs with big bore kits and custom porting.

it owuld definitely be interesting to see the dimensions of the engine. It would take a LOT of creativity in order to route the pipes. But it would be a really unique R. If i had the time and a spare frame laying around i would deifnitely try it!

Come on Rich........you only live once!

If I did it, I'd be looking into resleeving the cylinders and getting up to the 400-500cc range. Shouldn't be too extreme considering you have two cylinders to open up and not just one hogged out cylinder. With a good port, that twin cylinder setup would probably have awesome power delivery! Mocking up the exhaust pipes could get a little tricky though.

The exhaust would be tough to do, and I SURE this wouldn't be a woods quad. I'm thinking power delivery alot like a Banshee.

Yea the exhaust would definitely be the toughest part. But it would sure make a nice dune machine.

That motor swap has been done in a 250R but I can't remember the guys name that has it, I'm pretty sure he's a memeber here. I know he's in MI. I think he's got it in a drag chassis.

The TOP DOG 200+hp 4cylinder RS500 would be more fun:D

Yea I been wanting to do one of those swaps for a while. It looks like the main bearings went out on that engine. My 250r piston and domes looked just like that when I blew my engine.
