ok ppl i got my 86 r and i've drag racing 300ft and i need to make it a bit faster. and someone told me to go with a smaller sprocket and the back. right now i have a custom made 45 tooth on the back and a 13 on the front. and i was just wondering what everybody else thinks about me going smaller. the way it is right now i'm only getting about 51.50mph at 300 ft. and launching off the line in 2nd gear. if anyone could help it would be greatly app.

try to run the largest front sprocket you can,due to wear and drag on the front. just adjust back accordingly. especially since ground clearance is not an issue for you. i would also suggest to run gearing that allows 1st gear starts as 5th and 6th ratios really start to stretch out a bit. 1st -4th i think is the way to go.i would try the 14/45 first ...bet you will be able to use 1st with that. ive dragged a few times with mine and out accelerated modded rs and banshees but got passed right at the finish. but i run a woods bike..plus im 250 lbs:D

yea ive been playing with gearing in the 300 foot to , i found that a 14-46 combo with a first gear start works the best for me.i can pull on the 450s till half way down the track, then its usually neck and neck at the finish,i had to do a little shaving on my case saver to get that 14 tooth on there though.

i run 22 inch mudlites backwards, and i run them darn near flat, ive tried just about every gear combo that i can think of,and the 14-46 seems to work the best for me, now its time for more horsepower

I've been going to the strip too, haven't taken the R yet but plan on it this weekend.

I seen guys runnin a 72 tooth in the rear, its like as big as your tire. Most guys were runnin close to stock.

Use to learn the clutch to keep it where it should. And in the powerband and shift fast.

I've raced 450's with +6 swingers and paddles and who knows wut done to the motor and I kept up with them and in the top of 3rd I would pull on them, and I got stock gearing.

86 quad r i'm right now running a set of pro wedges 22 inch on ITP T9 race wheels. and right now i can launch off the line in 2nd gear but i'm hitting 6th about 50 ft from the end and ain't getting it wound up good enough to really hit the top end part.

how do 4-snows work in the dirt...i got em for dirt drags but only used them in the snow. they work alright in the snow considering the power delivery of my bike!!i would run 12/39 with them in 22" for drags.

well 86250r rider i've seen a few ppl use them 4-snows but they turn the rotation backwards. on my pro wedges i got them turned backwards and it helped my 60 ft times out about .200 of a second. and going with the rotation i was just spinning too much off the line. maybe this will help u some.
