I have the lock nut seperated from the axle nut, I've been hitting the damn pipe wrench with a hammer to get the nut to move, but I don't know if I've been doing it in the right direction, which direction does it go?

I've been hitting it forward, towards the front end of the bike.

That's the big nut, or the small one?

its left hand threaded, so you go the opposite of regular. so toward the bike should be right

harbor freight sells the 2' cresent wrench for $20.lifetime guarantee.opens to like 2 3/4".
to loosen, have someone stand on the rear brake pedal and pull down on the wrench(counterclockwise if your looking at the rear right tire).loosen the inner nut up and spin it towards the bike enough to give you room to expose the c-clip once the outer nut is loose.
i redid my axle bearings and it was a ***** to come off.it was way too tight.
be fore warned.... after i torqued it down on reinstall..it came loose after 1 ride.3 times i had to repeat the process.ended up using blue locktite and havent had the prob since.
those bearings are fun to get out huh......i spent 4 hrs trying and finally gave up.took it to my local bike shop and 25$ later...old were out and new were in.
sometimes it pays to have someone else do it.
