Vista or OSX?

Well My PC is on its last leg, I am going to need to buy a new computer soon, and of course I want newest technology out there :p . I like the look of vista, but I hear that there alot that you CANT do with it (Download Stuff :mad: ) My Girlfirend has a Macbook and I really like it. It has alot of neat programs and always runs pretty stable, Whats your guys' Experiences? Should I buy another PC of go with a Mac?

When this question used to come up. i used to say get windows. But at this point im just gonna say mac.

Windows can be too complicated for the average user. It is most ceirtainly better, its just that most people dont know how to maintain a computer.

The main thing killing computers right now is all the spyware and crap. Which fortunatly hasnt hit mac yet but will as soon as they are present in enough homes.

(The reason macs dont have virus' is because the % of people with macs is so low. So when "Mr Hacker" goes to send out your virus, the chances of him sending it to a mac is very low, resulting in the virus having a very low return rate)

Also, if you do decide to get a mac. Try not to turn into just another one of those annoying mac users. Praising your computer every chance you get.

Mac are different and confusing at first but they grow on you. They're good for photoshop and movie editing software but that's about it.

Vista = Poo. Before you make a decision check out Linux. It's a good operating system, requires less CPU usage to run, and looks great, but like Vista there's only so much you can do with it.

Yeah, I have used Windows since windows '95 and have gotten pretty used to it, but I am so sick of them being so UNSTABLE!! Everytime I use my Girlfriend's MacBook it is so Smooth and doesnt ever freeze up like mine does! I like the look of everything too.


(Another reason could be...I bet she probably looks at less porn than I do :p)

True, i hate how people rant and rave about how macs can't get a virus, they can just as easily, their just not a big target yet

i have a vista. and i love it. right now there arent as many programs. but soon they will be one of the most used and wont be limited. i think it was a little confusing at first but now i am SO GLAD i have it. it has both word and works in it. it has many of things already installed from the factory. i like it alot better than any other computer. and most of you seem like you have only tried mac and not vista. vista is so new and thats the only reason its limited for now

Get a Mac, you'll be happier. Plus you can run windows.

The only dissadvantage a Mac has is hardware updates are harder. I think as an average user, it is a better machine because it thinks for you and makes stuff easier.

Stuff that you have to load drivers for and do setting changes in windows, OSX just does them.

Less virus and spyware - or for me - none in over a year.

Cool programs that a PC can't run.

Vista is virtually dead - it is the equivalent of a box office bomb and is being re-written/configured for the next version, so it would be a waste to get into something that will drastically change in a year or so.

I'm running Vista and i've been able to use every p2p that i used with windows xp, so it doesn't seem to be an issue. I've been using vista since the middle of january with not a single crash or lock up yet. People ***** about how vista is crap and is just a bunch of extra pretty stuff, but I think it's because most of them haven't used it and are just on the 'screw microsoft' bandwagon. If you can use windows xp, then you'll be just fine with vista. Just my opinon though.

I would say just go for Vista, its still pretty rusty but its like every other microsoft OS or really and OS that has ever came out, It will be better after sp1 comes out and fixes some of the problems but i dont have alot of experience w mac so thats one of the reasons I would get Vista!

Vista, got a new Sony Vaio laptop w/ vista. You can open up a couple browsers at once and somehow you caan thumb thru them w/ the mouse. Its crazy. My buddy is kind of a computer nerd. I think he was just showing off.

Actually, I just downloaded limewire on vista yesterday for my girlfriend. Along with any other common program.

I am a mac fan but I think that you guys are ranting about nothing. Vista has all the capabilities that XP has and I've found downloads available for it that you are speaking of.
