hey guys, I am looking into buying a 450r but would like to know how many times you rebuild yours, and whats with the crank bearings blowing? Some one help me out please and let me know whats up with these motors. also, would it be bad to buy a bone stock 04?

In regards to the 04 450r you are looking at, its all about the condition and was it beat on or not. I just bought one that had very low hours and it rides and looks like new. I don't know much about the crank bearing issue but keep in mind some of the R's out there that have had issues have either seen long term high RPM or might be highly modified. All engines have an issue or two. I think the Honda 450 is pretty bullet proof all things considered.

i have a stock 04 and a bulit 05 the only thing i would say is once you bump up your compression keep an eye on your rod bearing... not fun

I plan on adding a pipe/filter, and MAYBEE a cam. Can i just keep the valves adjusted and change the oil and give it hell?
