i have a 2003 400ex and my cam chain jumped a tooth. should i just put it back on the right tooth or get new sprockets? what do you guys think the problemb is? the chain is still tight so i don't think it is the tensioner. let me know thanks

how do you know it jumped a tooth? is it running bad?

do it sound like a disal you might have jumped timing your cam chain might be streatched pull your cam chain tentioner bolts out and see if their is enney spring tention if so chain is good. good luck

yea it either the chain or tensioner or a combination of both,,, just make sure ya check the sprockets over good also

i wasn't riding it when it happened so i don't know but i took it apart and it was off by two or three teeth. the chain was very tight before i took the tensioner off. so i don't think it is any of those. the cam sprocket looked fine and i didn't want to take it apart to get to the crankshaft sproket if i don't have to.
