Well i have a 98' 300ex and its never been rebuilt. When i shut it of it sounds like its taking a huge breath. The noise comes outta the exhaust and its like its breathing in. The power isnt that good and it seems to dog really bad if its not pinned. Is it time for a topend rebuild

Does anyone know what the problem is. Like can i just re-bore it or do i have to go the whole nine yards? Thanks for the input.

You could just go .20 or .40 over...but my philosophy is, if your going to have the engine pulled downt hat far...then why not go ahead and get all you can out of it...

:ermm:

i think yes, do what you want, but that same thing happend to my bike, as i was waiting for parts i just kept saying oh one more ride wont hurt it one more ride wont hurt it, then the bike started blowing flames out the pipe i thought cool, next day i went to fire it up, warmed it up, reved it to the rev limiter and burned out of my driveway and then i heard a noise, next thing i know my bike sat in the shop for for 2 months and i was stuck with a 600$ repair bill, the crappy part? my rings and a new piston came in later that day:(

Don't ride it. Rebuild it just have it bored and honed and buy a pistion. Replace the valve seals while your at it.;)

Many people will disagree but I like using the Clymer manuals. Their cheap (about $20) and has step by step instructions.
