Hey guys... sold my truck and I've been looking at getting an F-250 diesel. I've wanted one for a while. Im trying to find forums about diesels to research it a little more. Anyone got any good ones they frequent.

About the only forum I frequent is the Diesel Truck Resources forum.....and thats pretty much only Dodge/Cummins stuff.

I do know there are quite a few Powerstroke specific forums out there though.

I've got to ask though, what year and what motor are you looking for in an F-250? If you find an older year model with the 7.3....then your golden....but anything with a 6.0....be careful:ermm:

my brother has a 7.3 and is pretty cool. those 6.0 you can buy a chip from bully dog and it will give you bout 250 hp. and bout 450 pounds of torque. thats more than a 7.3 stock!!!

Thanks guys, Ive signed up over at thedieselspot.com and they seem really knowledgeable there. I probably try some of the powerstroke ones too.

Right now Im looking at an 06 6.0 with 14K on it or a brand new one, as they will probably end up being the same price. The 6.0's are not as bad as everyone makes them out to be.... they were built to be driven, people who have problems are usually people who baby them or people who mod them excessively.

The 08's seem to have terrible mileage though, that is the only thing holding me back from getting one.

My buddy has an 08 f350. He gets about 16mpg city, when we tow the trailer we get about 8-10mpg.

Dont go by the dash, calculate it out by hand its even lower, and even at that, consider yourself or himself lucky. Everyone else I've talked to is lucky to get 15 highway.

One guy recorded towing an 11K lb trailer under 7mpg. AVG! Thats terrible. However they are raving its an awesome truck and rides phenomenally. I cant really make up my mind.

the 06 is going to be much better on fuel, plenty powerful for me, however an 08 will probably end up costing only a hair more. Decisions decisions.
