Looking at the local Honda dealer, just talked a little "numbers" with the one parts guy. He said depending on what my 400EX looked like, he could give up to $3000 on a trade for that. His OTD quote was in the 6500 range. This is for an '07 Honda 450R. I'm thinking atv dealers are a little like car dealers, they would like to get rid of their inventory by the fall/winter to make room for the new years models? I'm sure they won't come down to much more than that, if at all. But if I have to travel here in PA, I don't mind, if it saves me $500 or over I will. Keep in mind, I'm married, 2 little ones, etc.. you get the drift. Still trying to "stay young" here at 34.

$3000 sound like a lot for a trade in price. What year is it?

I had my 400ex for about a month before I sold it and bought an R. You will love the 450

over here on the east side of PA right outside Philly, there is a dealer selling a new 450ER for 5200. Its white. Hes clearing out the showroom now. Its like 5200 plus 400 for tax/tags.

My buddies bought both of their 05 450Rs for $5999. I know $6700 can be brought down some, though I dont know I'd complain with it for $3000 on trade in for an EX!!! What year is your ex?

Personally i would just sell the EX you will get more money.. and deff look around for a good deal.. they havent changed the bikes enough that an 06/07 is that much better than an 05.. unless you want e start. I picked up a used 05 bone stock mint shape had 2 tanks of gas through it for $3900, It would save you some money to look around for a nice used one.

atv dealers ARE just like little car dealers.

sell your bike outright- you will get way more out of it--- if it is new/in good enough shape to bring 3k at the dealership on trade in it would prolly bring 3500 on the street--

if u dont HAVE to trade a bike in a dealer is more likely to haggle on the price-- (just like cars)

AND his otd quote should be at LEAST 500 cheaper than that--

I was thinking an outright cash deal would be better too, but to get $3000 for an '03 400EX around here would almost be impossible. Their's always a dozen or so EX's in the local paper shops, etc.. for sale around here. Like I said though, I didn't really shop around, and matter of fact the last 2 Honda ATV's I bought weren't from that dealer, they're just the closest. Thanks for all the replies though, maybe the right deal will come up here in the near future. I'm pretty much looking for an e-start red 450R. Thanks.
