I have a 416ex that is very very nice. I am sking 4k OBO but the best I was offered was $3,300. Its a 02 and is very very nice.

Anyways a quick list of mods is.

Full decked out 416 engine, with sparks clutch, bottom end and top end recently went threw, very strong runner. PC covers

+1 Arens LT arms, Elka LT shocks.

Gussested frame

Sub frame with 250r grab bar

Arens Stem

Lots of more. Everything is Pced by pappy.

From what I have read 400exs parts are cheap. Due to there is so many of them around.

Think I could get $3500 in parts? I am not sure what most these parts are even worth.

Main thing is I dont want to get it torn down then not sell anything.

If you have stock parts return it to stock, see the quad and then the parts.

I do not have any stock parts:(

I was going to trade my friend a arms and so on for some $$$ but it would have been better just to trade quads lol since he wanted so many parts

the thing is, with part outs you may get more for some parts than you would just selling with the bike, but you run the risk of 60% of your bike not selling and you are stuck with a halfway complete bike worth nothing together and it is just a pain, dont part out unless you got time and you dont need the money now.

is it really worth 200 bucks to tear it apart and sell it off piece by piece ?

there are alot of 400ex's out there, If your not in a hurry you may pull 3500, you would prob. make the most by trading the aftermarket for stock parts +cash, then sell the mostly stock 400
just my opinion

I do not need the money and its already been for sale for 2 months now, and I am not willing to go down much.

That is what I am worried about is the 60% of my bike still together.

I am more worried about not selling anything or loosing money.

I dont want to loose tons of money on this deal when my parts dont sell and I am forced to drop prices.

Not a bad idea. But I hate to trade and run teh risk of getting bad parts. or worse no parts at all.

I was wanting atleast $3500 out of it. But if I part it and make 4k that wouldbe sweet.

I am going to make a spread sheet tonight of all my parts and see what I can come up with.

i think it depends on how much time you want to put in to it... parting it out takes for ever and your not guarenteed to sell everypart...

i would just sell it for 3,300 and be done..

i parted out a mostly stock 400ex and made about 2000 and still have a few parts in my way..

i would make a psot that say possible part out and see what kind of responses you get......

How much is your time worth?

Aftermarket USED parts usually bring about 1/2 the price of new parts or less.

According to NADA guides the quad is worth $2759.00 in average condition. The Exhaust adds $44.00 to the price.

You had an offer of $3300.00 and you think you might get $3500.00 if you part it out?

How many trips to the post office and UPS do you think you will have to make ti ship parts all over the country?

How much time will it take you to find boxes and pack up all those parts.

How much time will you spend answering PMs and negotiating prices?

For the $200.00 difference I'd sell the darn thing to the guy with the $3300.00

You all make very good points. Ya 800 trips to UPS isnt my cup of tea lol.

I wanted to make a hybrid but that is just too much money after pricing everything.

Part of it may be my fault since I haven't taken any recent pics and posted them.

So I am going to knock the cob webs off and take tons of pics and try again:D
