I want to mod my quad but I was wandering if any mods would void my 5 year factory warranty, and if so what they are. Also, in a kit I found it included a racing spark plug, would a spark plug give me more poer or anything.

check with dealer. I have heard even installing a pipe yourself will void a warranty, but that was with a Yamaha so dont know Hondas policy.

It all depends on your dealer and what he determines what voids the warrenty and what doesn't.

I got a Honda Rancher ES, the 5 year extended warranty costed 500 though, and it will probably pay for itself before I get to the end of 5 years.

I got an extended 3 year warrenty and it was $580. I think i'm going to cancel it because i don't think I will ever use it.

Just watch out, you will get it canceled then a week later you will break something that will cost $1000 to fix.

Talk to enad58, he said our local dealer said that you can pipe it as long as you dont rejet, but I dont believe a thing they say, they dont even know what air filter oil is. If you dont rejet, you will run lean, and we all know that is better for the engine...

Well i havn't asked my dealer what will void my warrenty because I am going to do what i want anyway. If something does go wrong for some reason I can just put all the stock stuff back on ;)

I still have about 8 more months on my regular warrenty so if somthing goes wrong from now untill then it will cover it. The extended warrenty doesn't cover clutches or bearings so it really isn't worth it to me.

Do any of you know for sure if my mods will void my warrenty?

I say screw the warrantys. Thats just how they make their money. If anything breaks, probality that it will break during the warranty(slim since they have it all figured out) and then, the thing that will break, will probaly be something that is really hard to prove that it wasn't your fault. Seeing that they will just say its not the machines fault, then you will be stuck paying the price anyways. Lastly they make you have it serviced by a honda dealer every time which is 60+ a service. So its a big waste of money.

Can'tsay much about the warranty except that the dealer has a LOT to say about reimbersment. I put a dynojet kit and k&n filter on my rancher es and it made a good improvement. Don't know where you live but if it gets much below 40 deg. in the winter don't run 20w-50 oil, use 10w-40 because the trans won't shift well for a few minutes on start up until the oil gets a bit warm.:D

I think I run the same oil during the winter, as what the dealers put in them when they tune them up, and it still runs great. How much of a difference did the jets and stuff do to your rancher.

I wish Honda would make a 4x4 that had the performance of their crf450 engine w/ the full rancher plastic. That would be nice.

I think they put 10w-40 in normally as thats what the manual calls for. I put 20w-50 in by mistake this fall, too many road pops ya know.
Anyway the engine runs the same but more responsive and revs out quicker, also sounds just a bit throater, but that may be psychological. Seems to have more seat-of-the-pants power in the midrange especially. Biggest difference is that the machine feels lighter all around.

BTW they do it's called the RINCON, due out soon!!!:D :D :D
