I didn't find this originally, but it's worth spreading around.

Moreeb Dune in the United Arab Emirates. 950ft and 50 degrees. It's the largest sand hill in the UAE and perhaps one of the largest in the world.

This one's big, so click it for the full size.

Several of those looked like they were attached to a long bungy cord and then pulled back to the starting line before being "released". :eek2:

well... if you had a bike that could pull that hill in 5th gear, you would be screaming, so they would be pretty far up there...

that would be sweet if they set up some starting lights and what not like that at the imperial sand dunes...

I believe this is the top. Nothing too out of the ordinary there.

That dune makes China Wall in Glamis look like a joke. The crazy part is, China Wall is NOT a joke--it's a pretty mean hill, one of the steeper well known hills in Glamis.

The angle on this pic (China Wall again) really makes it look like nothing special.

One of these days I'll have to use my GPS to measure exactly how tall and how long China Wall and Olds actually are. With the length of the run and the height I can get the angle of steepness.

I think I've heard of that happening before. Not sure though.

It almost looks like they actually groom the dune and section off different parts. I think the 4x4 trucks run down on the end where it's not as steep or long and with a flat crest.

No whoops in sight on that hill! Sort takes a certain element out of it compared to what we do.

if they would take that pick more to the right and not so directly out it would make it look a lot steeper...

china wall is a pretty sweet hill... what was crazy was two season ago we were sitting at the base of it, and this group rolls up, and in the group were 2 kids on YFZs that could barely touch the pegs and im still not sure how they were shifting... they were brothers, and the oldest one couldnt have been 12... anyway, they were racing each other up the hill, and one was doing wheelies a lot of the time- and i think they might have been on purpose... it was pretty crazy...

i wouldnt like if they took the whoops out at imperial- thats my meal ticket...

it just sux cuz last season Olds were the only whoops i could really get in that groove when you wheelie through and just skip across and keep your rear end down the whole time... i think gordons well and buttercup have gotten too spaced out from the rails or something... they were different from previous seasons...

I know what you mean. It feels great when the spacing is just right, you find that "groove", and it feels like there's nothing holding you back.

Thought I would show you our drag hill. Little Sahara Sand dunes in Utah 60,000 arces of sand. Here is Sand MTN where most of the action is.

The picture is of sand mtn in the background. The video is of a friend of mine racing up the "FACE" which is on the left side of the picture (mtn) He was clocked at 105MPH.
