I found this bike on craigslist and called about it.He said that he has the title but he cant find it right now.Would you go buy the bike and then tell him to call you when he finds the title? Can he take the bike back from me if he finds the title and decides he wants it back?Should i just have him give me a bill of sale for now until he finds the title?Sorry for the stupid question but i am really wanting a 250 and this is a great deal and while i got the money i dont want to pass it up.

I think you should find another bike. That one looks like it will cause you some problems down the road.

Never buy a bike without a title.... it can come back to bite you HARD!!! It could come up stolen so you can pretty much count on never being able to register it.... if it is stolen it can be taken back from you and you are out the bike and the money... the guy could also claim you stole it being he still has the title.

A good buddy of mine has bought something before without the title and then went to the owner before to get the title and found out the guy he bought it from never paid, so he had to pay for the same bike twice to get the title... he also sold a trailer and gave the kid the title after only half of payment, and the kid ripped him off for some of the left over money by claiming he paid for it, though he already had the title so there wasn't much he could do. I think he's learned to always buy something with the title and always keep your title until you're payed in full.

Sorry, didnt know it was a kid selling it, deffinitly get a hold of his parents if you decide to buy it and have them sign it over.

honestly, 1000-1300 is a pretty fair price for that bike, the worst that happens is the bike needs a new top end rebuild, not to expensive.

Ok i just called him and he said that he is going to go to the courthouse and get a title. But i told him i wanted his mom or dad to sign a bill of sale when i bought it and he said he could have his mom sign it.So i will prbably go pick it up tom.

I dont think getting a title is as easy as just going to the courthouse and picking one up. But with a bill of sale from his parents I would feel safe in buying one that old.
