View Full Version : 400ex motor in 88'250ex frame

hey guys.. i got a quick question for a buddy of mine.. he wants to know if he can fit a 400ex motor in a 88'250ex frame.. I thought the frame was to small but since I have never seen this mod I dont know..

Im pretty sure thats doable.. the 400ex is based off the the 250r frame. i think itll work. im sure someone around here has tried it and wil chime in.

I know they make a bracket kit for an ATC350x motor to fit in a 250x frame. All it entails is the brackets for the front of the motor and the top, along with brackets for mounting the oil cooler. There is not much difference in size between the 350x motor and the 400ex motor. But the electric start is a plus! I hope that helps.
