I found me a truck I need a diesel ive really been leaning towards a cummins but i think this is a hell of a deal being a 1 ton and all. Its only a few miles from me i think i can get it for 6000, and yes i know its an automatic but its a truck Item # 130139586983 on http://www.ebay.com

alot of miles. Those engines are bullet proof. My uncle had one as a farm truck and it hit 300k before he sold it.

If its a daily driver or needs to pull a trailer long distances I would prally buy one with less miles.

If you are just buying something to haul localy then get it.

Its not the engine I am worried about breaking, it would be the drive train, cvs, ect

i think the cummin's is an AWESOME engine, but unless it had a clutch behind it i wouldn't buy it, i don't like dodge trucks, cummin's is the only thing they got that's worth anything.
IMO

i'm also not a fan of the 6.0 or 6.4 in the fords, but i think the trucks overall are built tough,
I drive a f350 with the 7.3, and i really like it,
With the fords on the auto's, i've been told by many people the reason they go out is the fins in the converters come apart. If it's got a new tranny in it, i would ask what kinda converter he put back in it. they make one with a Billet housing. The bad thing about the 96 is the 7.3 was not intercooled untill 99.
and they have 2 in 99, early and late, the late 99 has bigger injectors and a bigger air box.
I have an early 99, and i've got 173,000 on it and still going great.

i also really like the duramaxx's though, but they are to proud of them for my wallet

Seems a little pricey to me.

My bro has a 97 F250 with that motor in it and it runs great, it has a little less miles but not by much, the only thing i can tell you from experience with his truck is check all the suspension if you buy it, those trucks are I-BEAM suspension and a lot of that stuff wears out after that amount of time, he has dropped about 2k in new bushings, balljoints, steering parts but other than that it's a great truck.

You need to look a little farther than 50 miles IMO, around 100...

Those engines in the older fords are crazy. My dad has a 96 f250 powerstroke and it's got 300k on it, and still runs like its new.

You could get better deals if you searched around, you can usually jew people down a bit.

08-05-2007, 11:05 PM
That price does seem a little high. But its bulletproof. I'd go for it.

What you showed me werent deals though..besides as i stated i am looking for a diesel not an old worn out gas motor. Trust me i have looked around i know all the deals around i have searched auto trader and auto and rv within 150 miles yea you can find cheaper prices but this truck is clean compared to all the other ones out there for that price. Apparently you guys dont have a clue on how hard it is to find 1 ton reg cab long bed like this one in good condition for under 7000 that has under 200,000 miles on it plus it being 4wd

joshyz125

well, mine's a 99 f350 std cab, long bed, diesel, It was a one owner, 150,000 miles, i gave 12,000 at the beginning of 06,

yes, the std cabs are harder to find,

Diesels are the hot thing right now, so i don't think your gonna find any SMOKING deal in any of the classifieds, you'll probably have to know somebody to get one rediculously cheap. otherwise your gonna pay close to what it's worth
