imo ktm makes the best 65 and 85 mx bikes. my cousin has a ktm65 and it freaking rips. however, they can be hard to find, especially used and they usually cost more. so from what i have heard the next best in the class for overall performance and reliability is the honda.

my vote goes to the yami only because honda doesnt make them anymore:mad: . ktm is alright but to much money dude, and why are you guys voting kx? it has been voted last in pretty much every shootout, the kx has weak suspension and no top end, it pretty much sucks. the honda is probably the best but i refuse to vote for a brand who discontinued such an important bike, honda ruined millions of kids aspirations of going pro on a honda by forcing them to buy an unproven and expensive bike, nothing personal but i will never buy a honda dirt bike again:scary:

i've rode the honda, yamaha, and suzuki, and they are all good bikes. the suzuki has a lot of bottom end but not too much top, while the yamaha and honda have more top end with the only difference is the yamaha's powerband kicks in with more of a punch over the honda. Although i have not rode the other bikes i would say all of them are a good choice because as long as you take care of them they will last you for a long time.

what do you have to do maintenance wise on them?can you putt around on them a little bit without fouling a plug?

if it is jetted right you will never foul a plug, people say they do but no matter what i did i never fouled plugs or ran lean and my bike was jetted spot on, change oil change plug every so often, clean filter, change ring after a season or so, maintenance pretty simple

clean the oil filter and change the piston ring?

clean the air filter, there is no oil filter on an 85cc 2 stroke, the transmission oil is the oil i was reffering to, and yes, it will neet to have the piston ring changed about once a season the piston itself usually 1 time every 3 season but just check it when you change rings. it should last you a while if you change the rings, my uncle has an 79 rm80 nothing but a piston every 3 years ring every year still running after only 4 complete rebuilds he is the original owner! that is pretty good
