chainsaws

so ive been thinking of getting a chainsaw becuase my dad and i cut lots of wood for the winter he has a stihl ms440 magnum and i use it sometimes, so to speed up the proccess alot faster i was thinking of getting a smaller version like a ms290 or ms250 they range from around 300 to 360 dollars which isnt bad for a stihl, so i was wondering what you guys think and what types of chainsaws you guys use for cutting wood.

i uses either echo, jonsered, or dolmar. thats what my dad sells so im kinda biased. i had to work on alot of stihlls when i worked there and i hated them.

yeah husq and jonsered are the same chainsaws, husq buys them from jonsered

I have always run Stihl and Echo saws.I have owned alot of different models and have worked at a Stihl dealership for 14 years.Stay away from the ms290.You will not be happy with the power.

if you could find and echo dealer around you i would go with that, thery are extremyl smooth and produce really good power.

cant go wrong with a stihl;) i got a old 028 with a thats cut alot of wood and still purs along, just bought a ms170 last fall, nice light saw for de-branching.

one of last years tree's, 86 year old douglas fir appox. 102' tall :D

i worked at a jonsered dealership for a while and i can say they are awsome saws, and yes husq buys them from jonsered. The stihls are a pain in the *** to work on for the most part

I work at a stihl dealership & there is nothing better than a 028
never brakes. But the only downfall is that you have to buy there 6.00 oil so it dont plug up.

thats quite the biased opinion, i think that echo dolma or jonsered are the best. my dad sells those three and really stands by them he has had his own shop for 30 yrs

i run a stihl 028. my dad used it when he was a tree trimmer before i was born. gave it to me a few years ago, and it's still running strong. never put a thing into it other than a new bar and chain. definately a great saw

i got an old husky 51, runs really strong and it has to be over 10 years old.

stay away from the 250 and 290 if you want a stihl in the 50cc range get an 260 or 280 but they are over 400+. Most people think husky has the market in the 50cc category, check out arboristsite.com they are chainsaw crazy!!! over there
