Well i have been making jumps in my field with my dads tractor for over a year now. I have never wrecked on them and never had a problem. I normally make a jump with a 40-50' gap and slowly make it bigger. But this time i didnt feel like wasting any time. So ive got a 75' downhill jump. I figured it would be cool to make an identical uphill jump right beside it. The uphill one i made was about 80'.

So i spent about a whole day on the tractor building this jump. The next day, bright and early i got on my quad and rode down there to check it out. I rode up the jump a bunch of times to pack it down. I rode up to the house and put all my gear on. Came back out n checked out my run a few times. Seemed like it gave me enough pop to hit it in 3rd. So i hucked it 3rd pinned..

Well i didnt make it and landed frame first into the face of the double. The quad bounced up and flipped over. Catapulting me over the bars n landing flat past the bottom of the landing. I lay there just thinking "wow ur a ****ing idiot, should have been in 4th" So i checked myself out n found a few cuts n bruises. Figured id get up n do it in 4th. Well as soon as i moved i started screaming at the top of my lungs.

My leg hurt like hell. I couldnt get up so i called my parents to come get me. My parents picked me up and all the colors were inverted. I just about passed out. We went to the hospital. I figured it wouldnt hurt to check it out even though i didnt think it could of possibly been broken. So we got there n they took xrays. The doc asked me "have u broke ur tibia before?" I said "yes, there is a metal rod and 3 screws in my tibia."

He replied to me "Mr. Abernethy, you are going to have a matching rod and screws because you broke ur femur." The fracture in my femur spiraled down the bone! My surgeon said he had never seen anything like it. Well i went into surgery the next day. The same guy that did the surgery on my tibia did it again.

I have been in the hospital since Wednesday n just got home Sunday night. Theres my story, hope u enjoyed it. I have 2 rods and 6 screws in my right leg. haha

That sucks. I just recently broke my Tib/Fib and a rod through the bigger bone. My break was similar to yours, it broke up top and then kinda shattered down the bone.

I looked at my quad when i was laying there n saw a few things bent. My buddy told me what he found bent. When my buddies come over tonight well go out n look at it. Im not in a huge rush, its not like ill be riding any time soon. haha

My boss is passing around a card at work n everyones throwing in some money toward getting it fixed!! I think thats one the coolest things anybodys ever done for me.

Breaking my tibia was a lot worse. I thought i got a charlie horse when i broke my femur.

Ill take some pics of the jump n some pics of my messed up quad. If i get my xrays ill put them up too, they are very impressing! haha

ya im the buddy that looked at the quad.

im at work and i get a txt on my phone. its dan. hes like dude i fd up big. hes like i cased my new jump i cant move. and hes laughing about it. haha.

so i get off work and find out that he has a broken hip. he asks me to go save his quad from the field so me and my bro go up that and i get on it. the stem is bent from before the clamp to the bars. u cant ride it. i attempted to. didnt work.

so we load it into my bros truck and take it to his garage then we really look it over after we unload it.

its really bad. the stem. the brand new grab bar that he got like a week before was all messed up. he bent the mount for the grab bar. plastecs are all screwed up. clutch lever is bent real bad. he might have messed up a bal joint but i didnt look that good. hes bars are fd. and his bumpers twisted.

of course he had to be a dumbs**t and do this right b4 labor day weekend at breezwood. i tell ya.
some peoples kids.
they just never learn
haha

Hmm.. 90-100 miles?

I hate the hospital. I was in there 5 days. I knew the work schedule of every nurse that worked on my floor. I knew everyones name. Everyone knew me. Some of the nurses were like family to me. haha They were sad when i went home.

Let me ask how does someone so stupid work in a hospital?! Some of those people werent very bright at all. hey had a 5lb clipboard completely full of papers they took everywhere i went. It was sat on my fractured hip at least 7 times. They always seemed to bump into it carelessly. I told one nurse i did not want to see her back in my room because she hurt me too much. Then she started shoving me trying to push me on my side. Telling me not to be a baby n to lay on my bad hip! But a lot of the nurses were very good and i must say.. there were plenty of attractive nurses.
