I'm rebuilding my g/fs ex, and I'm concerned that the timing chain feels sloppy. So what are the guidelines for knowing when to replace the chain?

If you're going to re-build it, go ahead and put a new one on. trust me, it will pay off in the long run

id reccomend getting a crf450 timing chain. They are cheaper and heavier duty. Got mine off ebay for 30 bucks brand new. Its a good idea to change out the chain tensioner for a little extra insurance.

Do you need to split the case, or do you just remove the clutch cover?
