I still have few problems
the engine is very hard to start and i cant rev it high (start to bog)
maybe it cant get enough air...I've tried with the air box lid off and its work better but still hard to start...
any suggestion?

What carb are you using? Looks good, should pull hard once running right.

I'm using the stock xr carb and the 300ex airbox with the lid off
i can start it by pushing and then its rocks!!!
but i cant start it with the kick...

sounds like the valves might be a little tight.

have you gotten it fixed yet? if your using the stock 300ex box to carb boot it might be holding you back aswell. try finding one for a 350x its quite a bit bigger. just heat it up to get it on.

thank you for your help

i took the airbox lid off

its still hard to start but after it starts....it works great!!

what to do about the kickstart? why is it so hard to start?

dang thats a huge enginefor that little frame! You might need a wheelie bar or +5 swingarm lol

is it just hard to kick, or will it not just start via the kicker? does the carb have an excel pump on it? try pumping the carb a few times, if it does and give it a shot. how does it ride all in all? looks like nice work. how hard was it to swap that in to the frame?

the engine is mounted forword and the swing arm is 2.5'' longer
the a-arms are 2'' wider and 1'' forword...
when the engine works good it dosent wheelie so quick...
the engine is well suited for that frame....

just hrad to start with the kick...the carb dont have pump on it....
when it starts...its ride fast and strong....im standing in line with new DS650 with better handeling
it wasnt so hard to get it in....the lower engine mounts are the same as the 300 ex just had to add the upper and front(very simple)..i didnt finish the exhaust...its still temporary fix...
th fuel tank was modifed and oil tank was manufactured

you meen the lower mounts are the same? you had to change the upper rear and upper front or were they practicly the same? im interested in this. i would like to build somthing like this in the near futre. if possible could i see the pics of the mounts? isnt the xr 650 pretty much the same engine? i could get a liquid cooled one for about 800 bucks that was in a crash involving a car. and i have a spare frame laying around

yes,the lower mounts are the same
i will add photos of the front and upper mounts later
the 650 is quite the same (lower case is exactly the same)
(not the new xr650r)
but you'll have to build the frame around the motor head (its wider) the 600 fitted exactly(i removed some corners to fit it in)
i will add pics...
you'll have to modifed the fuel tank to fit the taller head
it wont be so hard to do all that

I like your quad, I have been trying to get a hold of a xr600 motor now that i have seen yours. Was the swap that hard to do?

the xr650r will not fit into any frame without a lot of modification. it is an extremely tall engine. the xr650l however, which is the air cooled version, although slightly slower, will fit much easier. if you want power, and i mean power (like 65-70 reliable hp, with 45-50 ft/lbs) but dont mind custom making practically everything than go with the xr650r
