Hey guys i have an 05 450r and just installed an hrc cam tonight everything went fine the timing is dead on but when i went to start it it is really hard to kick and feels like it is always hitting the compression stroke.. it started and idled fine with no abnormal ticks but i shut it off becasue i figured something was wrong..im thinking it has to do with the valve clearances..and the clearance of the decompressor because i did not adjust it after i put in the new cam..would the decompressor or the valves being out of adjustment make the kicker hard to kick? i also need the clearance specs for an HRC cam if anyone has them...any help would be great...thanks

It could very well be the de-compression.

i know for a fact that the intake specs are .006 but i think the exhaust are .011, but not 100% sure on the exhaust

Correct

Intake = .006
Exhaust = .011
Decomp = .017 or 108PSI

The decomp being off is whats making it hard to kick. I had mine set a little loose for a while and it made it horrible to kick.

im thinking it has to be the decompression becasue it seemed to be loose last night..when i get off work im gonna measure up everything and adjust all the valves and decomp..

those specs you are listing are in inches right?

i found:

Exhaust- .28mm
Intake- .16mm
Decomp- Exhaust clearance + .25 mm

is that the same as what you listed above?

His post in using inches and yours is using metric numbers. Both are correct for doing a valve adjustment. I use the inch measurement and set my valves a thousanth tighter at .005 and .010. tighter is always better than looser. I think my decompression is around .015 or .016 last time i checked. Starts first kick and never had any problems with it at all in two years.
