will a 400ex steering stem bolt right up or would you have to mod it too work

unless you have one and need to replace your stock one there is no real point i can see in getting one, i see no gains you will get from it, but yes, it should bolt in pretty easy, i am not completely sure, but i have seen it done as a replacement for a broken one, i have never personaly done it just heresay, my advice, unless your stock one is bent, just keep it on there.

ok... its not a bolt in mod... it can be done and it will be about an inch taller..

if your interested in doing it heres whats involved..

you have to grind the stop off of the bottom of the stem because it is 180 degrees off..

then theres a small washer that is tach welded on about half way up and that needs ground off...


thats about it, grind those two things off and bolt in in as normal..

i wouldnt want to get a new one butt i bent mine rolling it down a hill, and my neighbor has a stock 400 one he said he'd sell me cheap.

yea we had a bent 400 stem laying around so we tried it on my 300, does not fit at all, my suggestion, just buy a 300 one, it will save alot of hassle. unless of course you like to work on your bike.
