1998 300ex engine

My 1998 300ex has hole in the case under the sprocket. My question is if i buy a complete bottom end from a 04-05 300ex will my top end bolt on ok. Thanks for you help.

yes i beleive it will, but for the price it will cost you for an oem replacement why not buy a whole newer engine on ebay for the same price?

I am looking at buying a used bottom end on ebay they are going for 425.00 . Is this not a good deal. I could rebuild mine with a new case but I want to get back riding as quick as possible. Thanks

if you find one in good condition it is a good deal, but you can find engines for 500-600$, my dad bought a 330 engine for 650 so that was a good deal, but you have to have patance and be willing to wait

well when I bought the quad the hole was already there but patched, I assume the master link probably came off. that is what I have read as the cause of this problem.
