i would figure around 1000 give or take a bit.......

that would be for the complete bore kit and resleeving... cam. pipe, filter, and jets

if budget allows get a 450r carb and aftermarket cdi..

but my estimate is if you do all the labor except the resleeving...

Never heard of resleeving a 416:ermm:

Estimate pricing...
Piston & rings $125
Gaskets $25.00
Cam $125
Bore & hone $60.00
Slip on pipe $250.00??
Filter $30-$60
Jets $10.00

Around $700 if you do the disassembly and assembly.

Thanks, how much power and speed differnce is there. or should i just get a 450? or make one nice 400ex.???? I was thinking, 416, with blue plastics, nacs grapics, curtis sparks pipe, and some nice bars and nerfs.

it will definatly make a considerable amount of power over stock...

on getting a 450 it depends how attached you are to your 400.. if you have the money and need the power of a 450 then get one..

technically you wouldnt gain speed unless you play w/sprockets or tire size..

i was thinking about going to a 416, but i was first going to look into an XR400 cam.. i had heard it creates better top-end power.. (still trying to confirm this..)

^^^ thats true... you wont technicaly see any top end diference unless you change gearing, rev-limit, or tire size,

i never rode a stock 400 motor, but mine has a 416 with xr400 cams, hi comp piston, etc - and it runs like a raped ape.

a 450 will dust me in a long stretch but when it comes to getting out of turns and taking off, its every bit as quick if not quicker than the 450s. It was a track built quad and it shows...

i can only imagine its making more acceleration than the stock 400 - im def happy with mine though. good luck :)

i have a 416 and it's a huge dif from the stocker pulls all the way to the rev limiter and even with the stage 2 cam it has alot of bottom end

my friend did his 440 for only about $500 Max but thts because he had spare 400ex motors laying around and tons of other parts. But to buy it all new yeah its up there. Is a 440 much more than a 416?

well you need to resleeve on a 440 and it would be a good idea to get some hd head studs to

If you ask me I'd say it'd be a good idea to get hd studs w/ a 416 also. Better safe than sorry...;)

homda parts are ok but i would go with cometic gaskets and get a good hd timming chain i think the crf 450 dirt bike chain is what i have

JE and Wiseco are the two big names in pistons with Hot Cams supplying most of the cams.

I'd recommend doing a 416 kit to start cause when you rebuild it you can do a 426 the next time, then 440, etc.

I rode my buddy's 416 with a JE 10.8:1 piston, Stage 2 Hot Cam, and a 450R carb and the things rips. That's what mine is going to be soon.

So all you have to do is bore and hone the cylinder? They aren't Nikasil plated? That would be awesome if they weren't because it's alot cheaper. But with the Nikasil it will run cooler. Anyone ever tried it?

Something you need to take into consideration with going to a 416 from stock is that your losing all of your bores. So if you go 416 and it blows up then you have to resleave instead of just boring. If the bike is running good now i wouldnt bore it.I wouldnt tear apart a good running motor ahead of time just to gain 16cc's.

i say if you want more power then bore it to the 416. and you actualy are gaining 19cc b/c the 400ex is a 397cc engine not actualy a 400
