I have been wanting to trade my XC built 416ex for a LTr 450 or something else fast. Well since no one wants to buy it for my asking price and I really do not want to part out my 400, I thought about selling my 416 engine (hoping to get $1200) then do a 426 or 450 engine swap.

How much is a swap these days? Also about how much money is it to do the swap? (including electronics)

How fast is a 426/450 engine in a 400 frame? Hows it compare to the newer 450s speed wise? I already keep up with 450s how it is, so if I can not beat a 450 in accel it wouldnt be worth it.

I have a very nice quad so all I would need to do is swap the engines.

you prolly wont get much more than 600-700 for your 400ex motor, there are TONS of them everywhere forsale and the demand aint there, i coulod only get 650 outta my 400ex motor and that was a local sell. Contact Al (ss440ex) he is making some new kits for the 426 motor they seem to hold together much better than the crfs (the frame that is, reliability of the motor depends on your maintenence). Al's kits are the best out there and will make it 100x easier. Dont think your not gonna have problems but Al's kit will take away all the big ones and youll have the motor in there right thats for sure.

btw search all the times ive rebuilt my hybrids this year youll see most of the problems ive had.

With an auto decomp cam a shorter kicker works fine.

Costed $270 for a welder to mod my frame and make a kick start extention and that all took 7 hours to do.

You can find motors for around $1000 with carb/elec.

A 250r radiator only cots around $50 but it runs hot so i would get a pwr raddy for $400

The motor needs a spacer in back in the pivot area. What i did was took a old swing arm sleeve and ground theout side thinner so it would slide in and it worked perfect.

Stock chain will not hold up needs a stronger one.
