I don't know who's from the area and is watching the news right now but you should check it out. The I35W bridge going across the Mississippi river collapsed today during rush hour traffic. Looks like the heat was probably the cause of the collapse. My dad works for MNDOT so hopefully he'll find out more information about exactly what happened.

I hope no one was severely hurt and we're still trying to get a hold of my brother as he sometimes drives that way.

We finally got a hold of him, it was difficult because the circuits were busy because of all the people calling on their cell phones. Thankfully he wasn't on the bridge, he was still at work. They are trying to say on the news according to witnesses that don't seem to know much that there was only one lane open on each side of the bridge due to construction. However, I do believe it was two lanes open on each side from when I've driven through there.

Looks like they're asking for $250 million in emergency federal funds yo rebuild the bridge. It's unfortunate that this happened because now it'll be forever until the new St. Croix River bridge will be built in Stillwater along with the fact that lives were lost. My prayers go out to the families who lost loved ones.
