Anything is possible and yes it would be considered a hybrid but why would you want to do that?

yea as joex said it can definatly be done.. but its not practical at all, in my opinion its a waste of a good frame,,, unless say the 300ex motor was HIGHLY modified,

even so there are many engines that are better suited for the 250r frame

get a CRF250R motor if you want to race it in a 300cc 4-stroke class. ;)

THis guy used a 450R frame, but I beleive with a little work you can fit it in a 250r frame.

if your talking about the bike in the link it looks more like a 250r frame

stock 250r frames were made of square stock steel not round tube steel as far as i know..:)

Well.. then I guess you cant put that 300ex motor in the 250R frame either. ;)

I didn't realize that that's what you were really asking. They probably require the motor and frame model numbers to match.

Do the CRF450R and the CRF250R share the same crankcase? I know it's a long shot.. but if they did.. you could take a decked out 450R and swap out the Crank and top end making it a legal 250 within most of the sport class rules. ;)

But it would be a long shot. Honda likes to make every part on every bike "special". :P

people used put 250x and 300ex motors in 250r's all the time, 400ex's havent been around forever, so if you wanted to race a fourstoke, this was the best set up

what if you took a 450r motor and sleeved it so it used a smaller piston, then wouldn't it be a legal 300?

All depends on the series you're racing.

MHCS for example used to require specific models of quads. Other series' would simply require a max CC w/ a matching motor & frame model# combo.

theres no specific models but the cc limit is there...
