I just started my 00 300EX after it had sat for about a month inside my shed. It was not running well, so I changed the plug. I took it for a short ride and put it back inside. I held the throttle less than 1/4 open for about 4 or 5 minutes in neutral just to let it finish warming up. I looked down the at the exhaust just before I shut it off. Outside the head the pipe had the slightest red glow to it. Is this normal???

sounds lean to me.....remember tho its an air cooled motor and it may have been just too hot. check the plug after a short ride.

I notice my other guys I ride with will have there head pipes glow during night rides. Double check your jetting to make sure, but I am sure that you are alright. :)

The header is made of thin wall stainless steel, and will glow when hot.
Don't worry about it. perfectly normal.

but be sure to check that your not running lean. Better safe than sorry. But I have also noticed that header pipes glow on night rides. I think it looks cool.
