I was just curious what was the easiest or most effective way to clean the stock filter. Only style of riding I do is Oregon Dunes so probably not a whole lot of dust and dirt, just a bunch of sand.

I always soak the filter down with Dawn soap and water, and scrub it (inside out) until it cleans up. After it is completely clean, I let it dry and use Maxima's air filter spray. I wouldn't try methods like using gasoline because it will destroy the filter over time.

I use the PJ1 filter cleaner and oil.

More convenient/safer then gas and works faster/easier then dish soap.
For me anyway.

I've done it both ways. I have taken dish soap, and rubbed it all over the filter, then let it sit in hot water overnight or during the day. Then I rinse it off. I just repeat it if it needs it. I also use UNI foam filter cleaner. Either way will work.

I use kerosone to wish mine then put bel-ray foam filter oil onto it. But if you do decide to go with gas/kerosone you should invest in a few filters(thats what i do)
