Ok what is your favorite gearing to use on short or long outdoor tracks or trails... Do you like stock gearing, low,mid or topend gearing on your quad.... I would just like to see what some of you run and why....

On my 400ex I dropped a front tooth down to 14T and loved it on the trails. I lost a little top end but I never get to too many places on the trails where there is enough room to top out. The gain in torque is well worth the small top end loss.

I run three different setups right now

wide open places with lot of speed I like 16-37
in real tight slower technical stuff I run 14-37
most every where else I run 15-37

For being up here in ND I get away with my 16-37 90% of the time but I usually have to gear down when I go home to OR.

I Like them all and there really is not a huge deal of difference between the 3, but it helps me stay in the power where I need since i ride with alot of guys with much bigger quads.

For putt-putt stuff when I rode on trails or with people with slower bikes ( 300EX's and Polaris scrams ) I ran 12-38 that setup was slick. When I was just riding like in fast paced trails I would run stock gearing. For the fast stuff or when I knew I would be going long distance down the road 15 - 36...man that thing flew with that gearing ! Can't wait to get the KX up and running and see how fast I can go with some tall gears down the hwy.:D

You can say what you want about having three sets, but if you notice I never change the rear and I really vary rarely change the front. It all rally just depends how and where you ride.
