Hey all
I'm just about to fit a 440 kit to my bike, I'm thinking I'll probably get a 450r carby and a full exhaust as well.
Can anyone tell me if id be better off with a stage 2 or stage 3 hot cam and what the differences are? Do I need different valve springs etc with the stage 3?
Also guys what exhausts and rev box's seem to work the best on a 440?
Any help is much appreciated!
Cheers :)

I believe with the stage 2 you can keep your stock valvetrain but on the stage 3 youll definately need to get new springs/keepers. If your going to do that then id just have new valves & seals put in at the same time. Not sure on your other questions, im sure others will pipe up

X2

actually i think hotcams says you can use the stock stuff with the stage3 but if i was going through the head i'd do the same with the valves, springs, and seals. i'd rather be safe than sorry.

id go with the sparks x6 and the sparks cdi box...

the cam is up to you,,

stage 2 is more mid to top

and stage 3 is strictly topend,

but with the stage 3 i would get the hd springs and new valve seals...

like carguy7a said... better safe then sorry

I like my Stage 2 440. Stock valvetrain still ticking along like a champ. FMF Pipe sounds great but I'm not sure if it's considered good.

hey I would go with the curtis sparks exhaust, the vortex cdi is a great rev box if your budget allows you to get it. I love mine, check my sig for my mods this setup has put many stock 450's and 440ex's on the trailer at the 300ft dirt drags. If your interested in the vortex checkout duncanracing.com.
