I WANTED TO GET A LITTLE MORE ACCELERATION OUT OF THE TRX90. I CAN'T FIND A 12T FRONT SPROCKET ANYWHERE, SO I THOUGHT ABOUT A 53T REAR SPROCKET.

MY QUESTION IS THIS: I KNOW I WILL GET A LITTLE MORE ACCELERATION, AND LOSE A LITTLE TOP SPEED, BUT WHAT IF ANYTHING ELSE MIGHT BE NEGATIVELY IMPACTED BY MAKING THAT KIND OF GEARING CHANGE?

MY SON DOESN'T LIKE TO SHIFT ALOT, AND WILL USUALLY START OUT IN SECOND GEAR. WILL HE LOSE OR GAIN ANY TORQUE FOR HILL CLIMBING IF HE STARTS IN SECOND AT THE BOTTOM OF A SMALL HILL?

YOUR THOUGHTS ARE APPRECIATED.

To go smaller in the front you will gain on the lowend (out of the hole) but it will lose on the top! Three on the back equals a little more than one on the front + or - what ever way you go. As far as the TQ go it depend on where the rev is at. For the hill climb the rev need to be at max hp near the top of what ever gear you can get the max speed.
